Read Me Like A Book by Liz Kessler

Rating: 4.5 Stars

Release Date: June 14 2016

I'd first like to thank, Candlewick Press for sending a physical copy of this ARC Read Me like a Book for review.

And I would like to thank Liz Kessler for writing such a magnificent piece of work! This is my first ever ARC to be received for review, and this is my first LGBT book to read!

Ashleigh is in love, like the first time, gut wrenching, soul dropping love- but the thing is it isn't with her boyfriend Dylan, and most definitely not with another boy. It’s with her English teacher Miss. Murray.

This book is a coming of age/ coming out story, that's full of surprises from scares, friend fall outs and real life family problems. When you see this story, you may automatically think teacher and student relationship, that very uncomfortable theme in books that you’d just like to pass over, but this isn’t really about the second level of friendly, with a teacher and a student, this is really about coming out, and finding yourself through stereotypes. And figuring out your own decisions.

One thing that may have bugged me was the terminology used in this book, I was a bit confused with the British slang, though throughout the book it became understandable. But other than that, this book should be picked up by many people, especially those who are still trying to understand the LGBT community.

When Ashleigh finds herself, and comes out, I think that’s the part that really made me happy, and want to reread this book all over again, and maybe snap chat a little like Ashleigh’s friend Kat!

This book is very important, I recommend if you are looking for a comforting, be you, and diving in the depths of life, kind of story! You won’t regret it!
